Metrodata have two products for transporting serial data streams, e.g. from a satellite modem or an encrypter, over fiber, whether multimode or singlemode including over long distances.
The Access Processor is a very flexible platform which can transport serial data streams across dark fiber or fiber based services such as OC-3 or STM-1. Symmetric, asymmetric and uni-directional network infrastructures can be supported, for which the following serial interfaces can be used:
- EIA530 (up to 20Mbps with 1bps granularity, or exact clocking slaved off the satellite modem)
- HSSI (up to 100Mbps with 1bps granularity, or exact clocking slaved off the satellite modem)
- ECL (up to 100Mbps with 1bps granularity, or exact clocking slaved off the satellite modem)
- ASI (up to 52Mbps with 1bps granularity, or exact clocking slaved off the satellite modem)
The FIMO-2100 is also a very flexible platform which can transport serial data streams across resilient dark fiber. Both symmetric and asymmetric services can be supported. The following serial interfaces are available:
- EIA530 (up to 8Mbps with auto-frequency locking)
- X.21 (up to 8Mbps with auto-frequency locking)
- RS449 (up to 8Mbps with auto-frequency locking)
- V.36 (up to 8Mbps with auto-frequency locking)
- V.35 (up to 8Mbps with auto-frequency locking)
- RS232 (sync or async, up to 256kbps with auto-frequency locking)
